Die Software ist gut im Bereich verschiedener Effekte ausgestattet und bietet solche Füllungsmöglichkeiten wie volle, Füllmuster, gradient und Effekte wie Schlagschatten, Negativbild, Graustufen und Mattierungseffekt. Die Unterstützung des Windows XP Iconformats ermöglicht 32-Bit farbige Icons mit 8-Bit Alpha-Kanal zu erstellen. Das Programm kann ICO, BMP, JPEG, ANI, CUR, PNG, XPM, XBM, WBMP, PSD, WMF, RC und GIF im-/exportieren. Zu anderen neuen Features von IconLover gehören folgende: Unterstützung der Großbilder, die Möglichkeit transparente PNG Bilder zu ex-/importieren, alle Bilder aus einer Zusammenstellung in einzelne 32-Bit Bilder zu exportieren, neue Benutzerschnittstellesprachen Serbisch, Schwedisch, Katalonisch und Brasilianisch Portugiesisch und mehr.
